When Jake joined the Army Reserves six years ago, skiing, and certainly not Telemark, weren’t part of his game plan.

But now, after three years of trying, he’s made it on to the Army team competing at this year’s inter-services snow sports championships in Meribel.

Today’s event is the sprint but don’t be fooled by the name, remember this is Telemark where everything is a marathon.

Before any race or competition gets underway, a full inspection is carried out.

Jake’s first run, not exactly what he planned, but everything is part of the learning process.

His second run, he was better pleased with and he finished 12th overall, in a very experienced field of 19.

Not bad for a first timer with plenty of promise.
