With rocket-like reactions, nimble-as-a-ninja table tennis players from across the Army have been competing at this year’s Army Championships in Aldershot.

Organisers of the tournament have been delighted with the interest shown in the competition.

For many, this was a chance to get up close to the leading table tennis talent currently serving within the ranks.

Others were closing in on the coveted crown of Army champion.

Bibek Karki won his first Army title in 2016 – he’s the current Army number one and his commitment to his sport saw him fly from Brunei to take part.

12 months ago, the Rifleman, who serves with 1 Battalion Royal Gurkha Rifles, helped the Army to glory at the Inter Services, breaking the 33-year stranglehold of the RAF.

This week’s competition has bolstered his skills ahead of this year’s Inter-Services campaign.

The Army are doing all they can to encourage player development.

Top- level coaching and regular competition has helped nurture talented individuals so they can thrive and succeed against their forces rivals.

The Army will be looking to defend both the men’s and women’s Inter-Services titles when they meet the Air Force and Navy at Halton in three weeks’ time.
