The Defence Secretary, Gavin Williamson had spoken at the House of Commons about his contingency plans to have 3,500 personnel “held at readiness” in the event of a UK terror attack if a no-deal Brexit goes ahead.

This is to assist with the emergency services it any situation were to escalate. With the Military to intervene when a “formal request from any Government department“. The personnel that could be involved include the regulars and the reserves to support the Government departments.

With the talks of Brexit leading up to Christmas and beyond into the new year of 2019, the Defence Secretary had also announced a programme to modernise the United Kingdom’s military.
